Helping Families Obtain Free Appropriate Public Education for their Children

All children have the right to a free appropriate public education (FAPE).

Waterson & Huth can help parents work with school officials to develop an appropriate individual education plan (IEP). We will attend hearings, appeal decisions, and work hard to meet the education requirements of your special needs child.

An example of our persistence on behalf of your child's education is our approach to hearings. Our attorneys can request a due process hearing before an Administrative Law Judge and argue for an improved IEP to meet your child's special education needs. We communicate with the school district to determine if the parties can reach an agreement without a hearing. If reaching out in this way does not achieve the desired result, we attend mediation sessions with all parties present. If mediation does not produce an acceptable agreement, we will proceed to the due process hearing.

If we are required to attend a due process hearing, our lawyers consult with a team of expert witnesses. These specialists provide helpful reports to the administrative law judge (ALJ). Our team includes speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, applied behavioral analysis specialists, and physicians. They can speak of the needs of your child in the context of their special education knowledge. Contact us.
